Established January 2015

Dear Friends,

Thank you so much for visiting my website. Please return soon as I often add new images.

I discovered my love of photography very young.  I have always favoured Nikon equipment.  By the time I was in High School, I had the opportunity to navigate the darkroom, developing both Black and White negatives and Colour slide transparencies.   In my Senior year, I was delighted to win a Photography competition sponsored by Laguna Beach Festival of the Arts and Pageant of the Masters, and was rewarded with a scholarship for my efforts!  The cover shot of feet in thongs is one those winning photos.

Decades later,  admittedly, I was a little slow to embrace the digital era.   My introduction into digital came in 2012 when I purchased a second hand Nikon  D300 body and 55-200mm lens.  July 2015,  I upgraded to a full frame Nikon D750.  The lenses in my kit are a Tamron 70-200mm, a Nikon  24-70-mm, and recently I added the new Tamron 150-600mm G2.  I also use both a Manfrotto  monopod and tripod for some of my 'birding excursions'.

Currently I am a Semi finalist in world wide competition known as Macquarie Photography Prize based in Queensland Australia.  This must be the world's longest judging in any photo competition.  My one and only entry, 'Tiger in the rain' was selected as a semi finalist in May 2015.  It is now nearly two years since selection and no winners have been announced.  The website www.australianartsales.com.au now appears to be closed, so perhaps they were hacked.  I wonder if we'll ever know.

30 July 2016, very excited to have my leopard photo chosen for the prestigious photo of the day competition run by Earthshots.org     (right)  1 March 2017, sadly this website has also been corrupted, so the thousands of winning images from the past decade, including my one submission, will no longer be accessible.  Luckily I posted the link on my Harmoni Photography Facebook page as a souvenir.

September 2017, the photo 'Care to Share' of two female Red Tailed Black Cockatoos sharing a berry from a Cape Lilac tree was a finalist in the Subiaco Annual Photo Competition.

I hope you find my portfolio inspiring.   I love travelling to new places, though if I had to choose, I do favour wilderness over cities.

With the exception of the small gallery of Marty's frog photos, all images are my own.

July 2015 I joined Redbubble, a website that artist can post their work and the public can purchase a greeting card, T-shirt, coffee mug, iPhone cover and various other items.   The site is proving  popular, so I am building up a portfolio there.   I am particularly impressed with the quality of the greeting cards (quality heavy paper) and cushion covers (the image was printed on front and back of the pillow cover) which I purchased recently.  The site is: http://www.redbubble.com/people/monika-j-wright   or alternatively click on Harmoni gifts.

Regarding Facebook:

Prior to 12th April 2018, Thank you to the 100+ people who have  'liked' my photos.  For security purposes, Smugmug proceeded to upgrade their server/website and subsequently this reset the Facebook counter to zero.  Your 'likes' remain anonymous to protect your privacy, so hopefully some of you will give me the thumbs up again.

Please sign the Guestbook to let me know you've visited.  You are also invited to follow me on Harmoni Photography Facebook  (as always, there is more than one site with this name so please select the right one):
