Weebill
Australia has a lot of tiny birds, but this one is the smallest
Yellow Robin
Found in the wooded forests, this gentle bird is often curious of people in their territory. The light just broke through the trees perfectly. The yellow robins of Western Australia have a creamy white-grey breast compared to the Eastern yellow robin which is yellow up to the chin.
Crested pigeon
My first encounter with this species.
Great Egret
In breeding plumage. The beautiful feathers and green colouring on its beak indicate it is breeding plumage.
White Browed Scrubwren
This common wren, really does live among the scrub. It has a beautifully marked plumage and prominent eye brows. Often found near other wrens
White Browed Scrubwren, Ocean
Photographed in the dunes at the beach. I loved the background which is really the ocean, not the sky as I was looking down. (see the next photo also)
White browed scrubwren
In relation to the previous photograph, I did not move at all. The bird flew closer to me with the dune vegetation changing the background colour, I was exactly in the same position and the ocean is just out of sight.
Chestnut Breasted Mannikin Trio
Straw necked Ibis
No guessing how this bird gots its name. The feathers are quite extraordinary. This Ibis is endemic to Australia, however the bird guides do say that it can migrate to Torres Strait, Indonesia and New Guinea in winter.
Yellow Rumped Thornbill
This bird was taking endless amounts of bugs into its nest. This caterpillar was huge. Only a few days later the chicks had fledged and the nest was vacated.
Rufous Whistler (male)
Female Rufous Whistler
Raven
When seen in the right light, the colours of the raven become apparent. Nothing is pure black.
Western Gerygone
A really tiny bird. Very common, but not often on lower branches where you can photograph them. Pronounced Jare-ridge-junny
