Migratory birds, the Rainbow Bee-eaters arrive in Southern Western Australia every summer to breed. They dig a tunnel into a sandy hillside, usually about a metre deep, where they lay their eggs. The feed mainly on bees but also on dragonflies and moths. They whack the bees on a branch to dislodge the sting before eating them
