Cottesloe Sculptures by the Sea 2023
My first photo at the Sculptures by the sea 2023. I had only just set up my tripod and cable release timer when a tractor passed by to comb the sand for the exhibit. I quickly started the long exposure hoping it might make a unique image and this is the result. Taken at 0516am. I make an effort to photograph this event when there is a full moon and I like to start when it is pitch black. The beach often has security lights everywhere, so most images have an amount of artificial light for this reason.

Every year I like to have some fun by running in and out of a long exposure photo creating a ghostlike selfie. I'm pleased how this one turned out. Taken at 0521am. Exposure time 37 seconds. the long exposure really allowed the security lights to light up the beach. Fun, fun.

Taken at 0537am. You can see how quickly I move between sculptures, I only spend a minute or two at each one. This time of the morning, the the sun will begin to rise very soon. Can you see me in the mirror? Exposure time 5 seconds

Taken at 0545. Natural light. This is the moon setting on the Indian Ocean. Behind me the sun is starting to rise, creating this pink-purple sky. The ships are often visible on the water, on their way to or from Fremantle harbour.
