Cottesloe 2021

Taken at 0550 am (sunrise was at 0619). The colours have not been manipulated, the purple colours are straight off the camera. This is the first year I ever photographed the sculptures when there was not a full moon. It definitely was not as exciting as when there is a moon reflection and moon light.

Every year I try to create a selfie using a cable release and a head torch. I liked the shadow of this sculpture on the sand and the full moon. This was a 31 second exposure at F22 taken at 0538am. I ran into the scene and ran out again which is why there is a ghost trail. This part of the beach was heavily lit by street lights and security for the artwork which is why it is so bright so far before sunrise.

Photographed at 0547am with the moon setting. The backlight from the street lights and security made it very bright and cast the shadows. The sun did not rise until about 0615

This is a sculpture of a virus, and out of pure coincidence, it was exactly the same time that Coronavirus began to sweep the globe. 0551am

I love the muted tones of this image. The pinks and sand tones really work nicely with this artwork. That is the moon setting on the Indian Ocean 0553 am

I call this one 'Waiting for Hemingway' Reminds me of a favourite novel "Old Man and the Sea'. 0601am. I'm further down the beach away from the street lights, so there is less back light and the colours are stronger again. A couple shots I took did not have the waves crashing, and I definitely think the waves complete this image nicely.

At sunrise. The landmark Cottesloe Tea House in the back ground. The owner and council are working with developers to create a new design to replace this building. Of course the famous pylon is visible in many of these photos too.

The sky was so purple that everything glowed purple. Hard to tell the size of these art objects, but they were each about the length of a small car
